HIV/AIDS - End as threat by 2030, women in leadership roles, prosumerism?
Drum Beat 766 (published tomorrow) outlines UNAIDS' intention to achieve zero HIV infections by 2030. DB 766 also provides, from the experience and analysis of people active on HIV/AIDS issues, examples of programme action and strategic thinking seeking to achieve progress towards that 2030 goal. In support of the important work of the 11,239 people engaged in this HIV/AIDS network and active on HIV/AIDS issues we would welcome you sharing your responses to one or more of the following questions (with links to the more complete insights):
QUESTION 1: What is your reaction to the goal of "Ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030"? - "UNAIDS is leading the global effort to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 as part of the Sustainable Development Goals."
QUESTION 2: Do you agree with this strategy "... participatory approaches (that) place women living with HIV in leadership roles in designing, implementing, and reviewing findings..."? - ... "Women's voices are clear, consistent and urgent in their articulation of what must be done to create a woman-centred, rights-based approach to holistic health and well-being."
QUESTION 3: What is your analysis of this proposed strategy: "prosumerism" - Vulnerable Youth as Prosumers in HIV Prevention? - ... "stigma, voicelessness, and legislative and rights barriers, coupled with top-down decision making, are the common experiences of vulnerable youth populations that limit their opportunities to participate in vital health promotion efforts such as HIV prevention … "
These are starter questions only. Please also feel free to add observations, analysis and insights on any other HIV/AIDS related issues.
Thanks - Warren

Ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030?
Initiating discussion on Question 1 in this thread
UNAIDS has set the goal of "Ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030”. They identify 3 main targets to achieve by 2020 in order to ensure this goal is realized: 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status; 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy; and, 90% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression. See this link for more details
.
From your experience, knowledge, context and insight regarding the best ways to improve the effectiveness and scale of HIV/AIDS related action:
1. What is your reaction to that Goal and those Targets?
2. What do we all need to do better in order to make progress towards that Goal?
3. What have you learned from your work that you think would make a big difference if it happened at greater scale?
